Piranesi version 5 for Mac has arrived.
Mac users of Piranesi can now enjoy the extensive functional enhancements and wide range of UI improvements delivered with
version 5.
Existing Piranesi users will welcome the contextual toolbar (which updates to show only the settings relevant to the tool they're using), the improved cutout and text tools, and the multiple cutout tool for fast generation of scenery and crowds, whilst new users will appreciate the new contextual Help Assistant, which provides tips and tricks for each of Piranesi's tools.
Piranesi 5's DVD also ships with additional built-in brushes, textures, multi-fills, cutouts and effects, bringing the total on disk to nearly 3,000 offering even greater freedom of expression to produce breathtaking artists' impressions.
Universal Binary
In addition to Piranesi 5's feature enhancements, version 5 is also the first Mac version of the software to be a universal binary, meaning that it has native support for Intel Macs, in direct response to customer requests.
Universal binary applications will run on both PowerPC and x86 (Intel) chips, providing support for a wide range of Apple's computers.
Mac OS X Compatible
Piranesi version 5 for Mac is compatible with Mac OS X v.10.3.4 or later, including OS X Leopard, Apple's newest version of its stylish and incredibly intuitive operating system.

Version 5.0.2 update is available to download
Windows users will also be pleased to learn about a Piranesi release this week - Piranesi version 5.0.2 is now available to download from the Piranesi website.
Here's a quick list of the fixes and enhancements available in version 5.0.2:
After moving a cutout's hook point, cutouts could not be selected from the Cutout Manager's list.
File/Revert could fail when floating cutouts were present. |
When tweaking 2D textures, the resize handles were sometimes hidden. |
In some circumstances, vertical banding could be seen after applying textures. |
Construct settings did not show the depth settings for "material only" even though they are used for placement. |
Opening a MOV file as a cube texture no longer gives the error message "invalid file". |
Improvements have been made when reading Google SketchUp files. |
Vedute did not recognise some saved views in Google SketchUp files. |
The Vedute "nudge" buttons did not work correctly with some models. |
Here's the fixes and enhancements in 5.0.1 (included in the 5.0.2 release):
When the thumbnail view was selected in Windows Explorer, displaying the thumbnail of some EPix files could cause a crash, either in Windows Explorer or when browsing the folder in Piranesi.
In rare circumstances, updating the cutout or fill settings could cause a crash. |
Attempting to load an invalid RPC file could cause a crash. |
Some colour profiles could prevent Piranesi from starting when set as the default monitor profile. |
When you start typing a custom size in the Piranesi File/New dialog (and Edit/Image Size in Vedute), the minimum size of 16 is no longer added. |
Advanced Settings for the Edge tool now includes the Silhouette limit and Internal limit values. |
When an EPix file is maximised to fill the Piranesi window, closing the file by clicking the "X" button on the top left menubar now offers the option to save changes, if any. |
New Style would sometimes save the wrong tool in the style, if the style currently selected in the Style Manager did not use a tool. The Style Manager did not show the full tool description for some styles created in earlier versions of Piranesi e.g. filter-only styles. |
