Piranesi’s locks capability allows users to create masterpieces in a fraction of the time it would take a traditional artist or even another painting application. The additional material and depth information stored against each pixel in an EPix file means that Piranesi is able to ‘lock’ onto just a particular material, a single plane of the object within the image, or even all object faces with the same orientation. |

Turning on these locks restricts brush strokes and fills to just the exact pixels required, all without a need to create complex masks.
Locks can also be applied on the basis of colour, allowing multiple materials and planes which share a single colour to be painted as one.

Your first mouse click onto the subject defines the material, plane, orientation or colour that you wish to paint (depending on the lock selected) and thereafter you can be as loose and wild as you wish – the paint will never extend beyond the edge of your locked area. |

Raster fills, such as brickwork or roof tiles for architectural images, can be applied to a whole building with a single click, all applied with instant perspective. To try Piranesi for yourself, download a free trial from our Piranesi trial downloads page. |
